About Nexus Parking Systems

Nexus Parking Systems and its affiliates began their involvement in the commercial parking business in 1986 by financing, designing, and constructing the 1,656-space Station Plaza Parking Garage in Trenton, New Jersey. It was the first of four owned multi-level parking facilities for Nexus and is the anchor to the renowned Station Plaza Office Complex. The facility's primary operation is to provide parking for the Station Plaza Office Complex, but it serves parking for the Trenton Transit Center customers utilizing NJ TRANSIT, AMTRAK and SEPTA. Also, Nexus owns and operates several surface parking lots in the surrounding Trenton area which total approximately 400 spaces.

In 1993, Nexus successfully financed, designed, and constructed Trenton Park & Ride Garage in Trenton New Jersey. This opportunity was unique because it was our first construction/management agreement between New Jersey Transit (NJT) in which Nexus and NJT share ownership. The Trenton Park & Ride parking garage consists of 1,813 spaces and the land on which the facility resides on is owned by NJT.

In 1999, Nexus broadened our parking operations by expanding outside of Trenton and received the parking management contract for the 1,626-space New Jersey Transit Hamilton Train Station surface lot. This location has proven to be one of most successful and the fastest growing train stations for NJT on the Northeast Corridor. In 1992, Nexus assisted NJT in the expansion of the facility to 1,926 spaces.

The next three years Nexus continued growth as a parking management company and were awarded three additional contracts that combined for an additional 4,700 spaces. The parking facilities consisted of the 3,536-space facility at the New Jersey Transit Metropark Station, a 467-space surface lot at the New Jersey Transit Union Train Station, and a 658-space facility at the Lafayette Yard Parking Deck/Marriott Hotel under contract with the Trenton Parking Authority (TPA). The management contract at the Lafayette Yard Parking Deck-Marriott Hotel was unique for Nexus because it was our first introduction into hotel parking, which was different than Nexus’s typical parking operations at mass transit commuting locations.

In 2005, Nexus successfully financed, designed, and constructed the Hamilton Station Park & Ride multi-level parking structure at the New Jersey Transit Hamilton Station. This opportunity is regarded as Nexus’s most successful project because it involved many business elements and trade aspects in which Nexus performed all under one company. The elements consisted of construction, financing, interim or alternative parking, and parking management of the surface lot in preparation of new facilities operation. The 2,066-space multilevel parking garage has the same business arrangement and structure like the Trenton Park & Ride facility.

In December 2008, Nexus continued growth as a parking management company by successful being awarded the parking management contracts of three facilities owned by Advance Reality totaling 1,030-spaces. The parking facilities consisted of a 384-space parking garage and surface lot facility at One Gateway Center, 547-space parking garage at Three Gateway Center, and 99-space valet surface lot facility on Mulberry Street. The management of these three facilities included servicing customers for the adjacent Newark Train Transportation Center, Hilton Conference Center, and event parking for the neighboring Prudential Center.

In 2013, Nexus successfully financed, designed, and constructed the Rowan Boulevard Parking Garage in downtown Glassboro, New Jersey. The Rowan Boulevard Parking Garage is part of a downtown revitalization forming a new 26-acre, 100-foot-wide corridor stretching a third of a mile from the foot of the Rowan University campus to the center of downtown Glassboro.

The multilevel, 1,194-space parking garage is on Redmond Avenue adjacent to the Marriot Courtyard Conference Center and behind Rowan University’s College of Graduate and Continuing Education (CGCE) Building. The garage will provide short- and long-term (overnight) parking for the Glassboro downtown, Rowan University and guests for the Courtyard by Marriott.

In 2016, as part of Phase III of the redevelopment of Rowan Boulevard, Nexus financed, designed, and constructed a second parking garage in Glassboro known as the Mick Drive Parking Garage. The garage is located at 10 Mick Drive and opened in January 2017. The 934-space, 8-level parking garage will provide the much needed parking for Downtown Glassboro. Also, the garage will provide parking for Rowan University staff and students.
